Courtney Perrin Bellino graduated with a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics from Simmons College in Boston, MA and also received her M.S. there in Nutrition and Health Promotion. She has worked as a Behavioral Nutritionist in Quincy, MA, providing individualized nutrition counseling for patients with eating disorders and disordered eating and as a Clinical Dietitian at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA. She has conducted clinical screenings and assessments for patients for a variety of nutritional therapies. Courtney is certified, registered and is a licensed dietitian in New Hampshire.
Courtney works collaboratively with her clients as well as with other members of the eating disorders treatment team (physicians, therapists, parents, and treatment center providers). Using a motivational interviewing style, she meets clients where they are in the recovery process. Physicians and therapist may refer to Courtney to assess a client for eating concerns. She also treats clients who are transitioning out of eating disorder treatment centers and who are looking for a dietitian to be part of their treatment team.
Courtney uses a non-diet approach to help clients with compulsive over eating and emotional eating. There are no diet plans or rigid food rules to follow. Instead, clients learn to let go of negative self talk around food and their weight. Using various various therapies such as cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapy, Courtney gently guides clients to self regulate and normalize their eating behaviors. Mindful based eating awareness techniques are infused throughout her treatment protocol.
Courtney has in her tool kit Maria’s book Nutrition Counseling in the Treatment of Eating Disorders. She and Maria frequently share ideas and create new strategies for helping clients with eating disorders.
